was presented to PHCC Texas, Jessica Burden

Award introduction:
Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association of Texas — PHCC Texas — is a reputable and dynamic organization that represents the interests of plumbing, heating, and cooling contractors across the Lone Star State. With a rich history dating back several decades, PHCC Texas has continuously served as a pillar of support and advocacy for its members, promoting high professional standards and fostering industry excellence.

Through its comprehensive network, PHCC Texas provides valuable resources, training programs, and educational opportunities, empowering its members to stay ahead of the curve in an ever-evolving industry. By fostering collaboration and sharing best practices, the association ensures that its members deliver top-quality services and adhere to the latest technological advancements and safety standards.

PHCC Texas also plays a crucial role in engaging with policymakers and regulatory bodies, advocating for legislation that benefits the industry and its consumers. As a trusted authority, the association strives to improve public awareness about the importance of proper plumbing, heating, and cooling systems, promoting the overall well-being of communities throughout Texas.

In our recent code battle, PHCC Texas was an invaluable ally for IAPMO and every jurisdiction in Texas that enjoys the superior protections of the Uniform Plumbing Code. Such advocacy is crucial to informing policymakers about the benefits of the Uniform Codes and ensuring their continued adoption in Texas and any of the other 66 U.S. states and territories that utilize them, and for that we present PHCC Texas with a 2023 American Flag Award.

Industry Person of the Year
was presented to Josh Hollub

Award introduction:
For the recipient of this year’s Industry Person of the Year, plumbing and family are one in the same.

A fourth-generation master plumber, he’s been working for his family’s business since he was 13. Started in 1956, Modern Plumbing of Pasadena, Texas, was built by our recipient’s predecessors but still thrives because of his dedication to his craft and maintaining his family’s good name in the plumbing trade.

And when I say family business, it’s not just words. Five father/son duos work for the company. The grandparents of its residential field manager previously worked there, as well as his brother, nephew, and sister-in-law currently.

A commercial and industrial supervisor for more than a dozen years, our recipient serves in three distinct levels of the Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Contractors Association:

• Incoming president of the Gulf Coast Chapter

• Gulf Coast charter representative at the Texas Board

• Government Relations committee member and PAC subcommittee chairman on the PHCC National Board

Vice Chair of the Texas Gulf Chapter of IAPMO, our recipient provided strong advocacy and clarity to Texas state legislators earlier this year during debate over the house bill that would have mandated replacement of the Uniform Plumbing Code. He applauded legislators for ensuring that jurisdictions in Texas can continue to make informed decisions that best suit their local plumbing needs rather than being forced to adopt one plumbing code.

Three weeks ago, our recipient, his wife, Shelby, and daughter, Remington, welcomed another member to their family with the birth of baby Dawson. With a two-year-old and an infant at home, this man might be getting all the family he can handle! But he’s definitely the right man for the job.

To honor his love of family, his respect and admiration for the generations who came before him, his advocacy for strong codes and standards, and his inspiring optimism about the direction of our industry, we are pleased to present Josh Hollub with the 2023 Industry Person of the Year.
