Industry Person of the Year
was presented to Josh Hollub
Award introduction:
For the recipient of this year’s Industry Person of the Year, plumbing and family are one in the same.
A fourth-generation master plumber, he’s been working for his family’s business since he was 13. Started in 1956, Modern Plumbing of Pasadena, Texas, was built by our recipient’s predecessors but still thrives because of his dedication to his craft and maintaining his family’s good name in the plumbing trade.
And when I say family business, it’s not just words. Five father/son duos work for the company. The grandparents of its residential field manager previously worked there, as well as his brother, nephew, and sister-in-law currently.
A commercial and industrial supervisor for more than a dozen years, our recipient serves in three distinct levels of the Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Contractors Association:
• Incoming president of the Gulf Coast Chapter
• Gulf Coast charter representative at the Texas Board
• Government Relations committee member and PAC subcommittee chairman on the PHCC National Board
Vice Chair of the Texas Gulf Chapter of IAPMO, our recipient provided strong advocacy and clarity to Texas state legislators earlier this year during debate over the house bill that would have mandated replacement of the Uniform Plumbing Code. He applauded legislators for ensuring that jurisdictions in Texas can continue to make informed decisions that best suit their local plumbing needs rather than being forced to adopt one plumbing code.
Three weeks ago, our recipient, his wife, Shelby, and daughter, Remington, welcomed another member to their family with the birth of baby Dawson. With a two-year-old and an infant at home, this man might be getting all the family he can handle! But he’s definitely the right man for the job.
To honor his love of family, his respect and admiration for the generations who came before him, his advocacy for strong codes and standards, and his inspiring optimism about the direction of our industry, we are pleased to present Josh Hollub with the 2023 Industry Person of the Year.
